Thank you for visiting Whitney and Jan Prentice's website of realist art. Both artists embrace the realist tradition in painting. Whitney specializes in painting and drawing the nude human figure. Originally he set out to be a marine painter, but in art school he was captivated by the beauty and complexity of the human figure. His work follows in the long artistic tradition of figure painting.
Jan art has been influenced by illuminated medieval manuscripts and 16th and 17th Dutch flower and still life painters among other things. She is captured by the variety of pattern, color and form that nature abundantly supplies. She lavishly depicts nature's details in her botanical art paintings, landscapes, bird and fish paintings, each rendered with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship.
